Vertigo

While on tour in 1985, Wrathbone began working on new material for their sophomore album, Heat of the Night.

The commercial success of their previous album, Demolition, resulted in a bigger budget for the followup, allowing them to craft a more polished, mainstream rock sound.

The album’s lead single, “Vertigo,” remains Wrathbone’s highest charting song to date, reaching No. 1 in eleven countries, and topping the Billboard Hot 100 in the US for six weeks.

The album spawned four other hit singles: “Nothing Ventured,” “This Ain’t the Bloody Iliad,” “Blinkers of Mercy,” and “Stone Cold.” A sixth single, “Get Fucked,” was rejected by most radio stations because the band refused to censor it, but became a popular mainstay in their live shows.

The album sold over 30 million copies worldwide.
