Hell Hounds

In 1988, Wrathbone released their third and final studio album, Let It Burn.

The album’s lone single, “Hell Hounds,” marked a sharp commercial decline from the success of their previous work. The song debuted at No. 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 before falling off the chart the following week. In the UK, it peaked at No. 99, becoming the first Wrathbone single to chart lower in their home country than in the United States.

That same week, pop singer Frankie Ecco’s “Dreamin’ (That You’re Mine)” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it remained for seven consecutive weeks.

While touring in support of Let It Burn, Wrathbone’s original lineup was killed in a plane crash in November 1988. Lead singer Nigel Wrathbone, who missed the flight, was the sole surviving member.
